(2006 'Black & Tan') (51:38/10) In den letzten Jahren hat sich das niederländische Label Black & Tan zu einem Vorreiter im internationalen Bluessektor entwickelt. Mit seinen Veröffentlichungen belegt Firmengründer Jan Mittendorp, dass der Blues nicht als altmodisches Relikt aus Urvätertagen aussterben muss. Er versucht vielmehr, wann immer es sich anbietet, mit neuen Ideen dem Blues frischen Atem einzuhauchen. Gerade hier bei dieser Boo Boo Davis-Produktion ist ihm das bestens gelungen. So, wie es schon die Fat-Possum-Leute gemacht haben, brachte er den Oldtimer mit einem jungen, britischen Kollegen zusammen, Ramon Goose von Nublues. Seine Ideen mögen ungewohnt klingen, passen jedoch perfekt zu Boo Boos rudimentären Blues. Die Welt verändert sich, der Blues auch. Und das ist gut.

The Netherland's Black & Tan record label is on the forefront of contemporay blues recordings. Owner Jan Mittendorp has a vision. He says there's no need for the blues to become outdated. As the world is changing, the blues has to change, too. Whenever suitable, Jan incorporates new structures and techniques into his recordings. And he does this very successfully. Take Boo Boo's new album, for example. He had Boo Boo teaming-up with British Nublues guru Ramon Goose - and it works well! Reminiscent of the good old Fat Possum days of recording, the combinaton of rural blues and urban sounds goes hand in hand, naturally. Congratulations for another superb release!
