Und was sagt Robillard selbst über seine neue Veröffentlichung: 'Es war mir klar, dass ich irgendwann ein Tributalbum für mein Vorbild, den 'Vater der elektrischen Bluesgitarre' ... T-Bone Walker aufnehmen würde. Während ich hier sitze und die fertigen Aufnahmen das erste Mal höre stelle ich fest, dass der Zeitpunkt gut gewählt war. Ich arbeitete mit meiner jetzigen Band sowie einigen zusätzlichen Bläsern aus dem engsten Kreis unserer Musiker. Der Sinn dieses Projekts war vielfältig. Natürlich ging's zuerst und am meisten um die Arbeit von T-Bone Walker; aber es ging mir auch darum ein Album mit dem Feeling und natürlichen Sound, den eine solche Band produziert, aufzunehmen. Musiker, deren Spielweise vom Jazz durchtränkt ist, Blues spielen zu lassen ist der Sound, den ich am liebsten mag. Auch das wollte ich dokumentieren. Dieses Projekt war für mich unglaublich inspirierend. Viel Spaß! Here's what the Duke himself says about his new release: 'In the back of my mind, I always knew that someday I would record a tribute to my mentor, the Father of electric blues guitar ... T-Bone Walker. As I sit here listening to the mixes of this album for the first time, I realize that the time is indeed right. I used my current band plus some additional horns from our inner circle of players. The purpose of this project was multifold. Of course celebrating the work of T-Bone was first and foremost. Recording an album which captures the feel and natural sound of this type of band, jazz steeped musicians playing the blues (my favorite sound), was something I also wanted to document. This has been an inspirational project of the highest order for me. Enjoy! Duke Robillard.' - Album #2 is totally different with its all-acoustic concept. Some originals, some classics, performed with a very small combo. This music takes you way back in blues history. Great product, great price.
