British jazz fans developed an interest for the blues since the 1950s. Inspired by American records, artists like Alexis Korner, Cyril Davies and John Mayall started their own recording career before the dawn of the sixties. What followed was later called the British blues boom with innovative bands like Fleetwood Mac, Groundhogs, Chicken Shack and Savoy Brown. Rory Gallagher, although Irish, remains one of the most popular representatives of the genre.
