Searching For Odell Harris
He starts off like being chased by the Devil himself. Mississippi downhome blues at its best, performed by an artist so obscure that even producer Jeff Konkel only met him once - the day this album was recorded. His plea in the sleevenotes: 'If you do happen to see him, ask him to call me.' Excerpts from his notes: 'The session dragged on all night. It was grueling. Incredible performances were abandoned in mid-takes. Others devolved into chaos. Give the already hostile environment in the club, I considered pulling the plug at several points.' Indeed, sometimes it ain't easy recording an album. This session lasted all night long until 7.30 am the next morning. What you may purchase now is some of the most incredible Mississippi style downhome blues I have heard in a long while. Smooth like a bootleg whiskey. Incredible. Highly recommended. ODELL HARRIS - gtr/voc, BILL ABEL - gtr, LIGHTNIN' MALCOLM - bass/drums.
