In den 5ßer und 60er Jahren war Wolfgang Lauth einer von Deutschland's besten Jazz Pianisten und Komponisten. Er war jedoch gezwungen, seinen Unterhalt anderweitig zu verdienen, nahm jedoch in seiner Glanzzeit außergewöhnlichen und neuartigen Jazz auf - das alles gibt es hier. Das frühe Quartett (1956) bestand aus Walter Pöhlert, Gitarre, Hans Tresse oder Peter Trunk, Bass und Joe Hackbarth, Drums . Ein Jahr später wurde die Gitarre durch den Vibraphonisten Fritz Hartschuh ersetzt, wodurch Kauth's Gruppe zu einer stärker swingenden Version des Modern Jazz Quartet's wurde. 1958 nahm er mit einem Septett auf und verknüpfte Jazz und Barack Musik. All diese Aufnahmen wurden ursprünglich für Jazztone und Telefunken gemacht und sind hier erstmals wiederveröffentlicht.In the Fifties and Sixties, Wolfgang Lauth was one of Germany's best jazz pianists and composers.
