Information
Chicago remains one of the most important urban centres in the history of modern blues. Since the 1940s, musicians from the black ghettos, like Eddie Taylor, Jimmie Rogers, Muddy Waters, Sonny Boy Williamson, Buddy Guy, Magic Sam, Elmore James, Little Walter, Howlin' Wolf, have electrified the rural styles that were prominent before the war. Their music has influenced a generation of blues and rock players on both sides of the Atlantic. Under the headline 'Classic Chicago Blues' we are presenting both, the originators of modern urban blues, and their contemporaries, like John Primer, or Lurrie Bell, to name a few.
