Information
In 2013, Delmark Records from Chicago will celebrate its 60th business anniversary. Founded by, and still run by blues and jazz enthusiast Bob Koester, Delmark began recording tradtional style blues artists like Speckled Red, Big Joe Williams, Sleepy John Estes or Roosevelt Sykes in the 1950s. During the 1960s with the decline of Chicago's largest blues factory, Chess Records, Koester focussed on innovative artists and bands from Chicago. Junior Wells's album 'Hoodoo Man Blues' is regarded the first LP recording by a Chicago blues band. Productions with Magic Sam, Jimmy Dawkins and Otis Rush followed, classics of modern electric blues. Delmark continues to record and produce CD albums by contemporary blues artists, mostly from Chicago. Lurrie Bell, Taildragger, Mississippi Heat, Studebaker John, Eddie C. Campbell and Zora Young a.o. One of the most important blues labels of all times! Check out the LP catalog, too.
