Inetta Visor, powerful black singer, is regarded one of Chicago's greatest 'unknown' blues vocalists. Harmonica ace Pierre Lacocque is a member of the premier league of innovative blues players. Mississippi Heat's a band project, a format with a concept. It's the band's challenge to modernise classic Chicago style blues. A difficult job, but one they can complete. With the exception of a classic ('I'm A Woman' - awesome!) and two Denise LaSalle covers, the remaining material is all original. The opener 'Dirty Deal' is outstanding, 'She Ain't Joy Toy', a beautiful intense ballad, gives me the heebie-jeebies. 'Jamaican Night' is one of Pierre's showcases.
