Playing time: 35:33). -- The return of a cult star! Her rarest album from 1972 - now available again! Timeless songs in several languages! -- New albums by Esther Ofarim are rare, re-issues of her best recordings are even rarer, and this record was...until now...the rarest of all. Since the 1960s, the outstanding Israeli singer has recorded many hits as a solo artist and many more with her long-time partner Abi (the best-known, of course, was Cinderella Rockefeller). These days, she's celebrated as an artist of worldwide renown, but she's especially well known in Germany and Israel. - Throughout her long career, Esther has recorded a number of stellar albums, including 'Esther' (misleadingly titled 'First Album') from 1972. After separating from Abi, she'd taken a break before going to a Munich studio to start working on this comeback album, now reissued for the first time! Accompanied by the Munich Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra and top guitarist Erich Ferstl, Esther Ofarim performed a highly sophisticated cross-section of international folk music - timeless songs in different languages without regard to short-lived trends. Bear Family is now re-issuing this rare album (previously unavailable on CD) in top sound quality, closing a gap in the catalog of this timeless artist.

Playing time approx. 76 mns. -- A landmark first-ever CD by one of the best but least celebrated country and rock & roll singers! This was the hard-luck guy who recorded the original version of Jim Reeves' mega-hit, 'He'll Have To Go'! In all, 30 top class rockabilly, hillbilly, country, and rockaballad tracks recorded between 1950 and 1969 in Nashville! Includes all 8 highly collectible rock & roll and country singles recorded for Columbia in the early and late 1950s, 2 singles for Decca and Stars from the mid-'50s, 3 Republic discs from the early '60s, and a single on Challenge from 1969! Plus two unissued tracks from Challenge! Includes Brown's classic rockers 'Did We Have A Party', 'Flip Out', and 'Meet Me In The Alley, Sally'! Brown was backed by the cream of Nashville musicians, including Jerry Reed and Ray Stevens! A 60-page booklet by Martin Hawkins contains the first ever retrospective of the remarkable career and amazing life of Billy Brown, based on new interviews, and many unpublished photographs! And of course the original recording of 'He'll Have To Go', one of the most enduring and iconic songs in country music! -- This important CD fills a gap in the story of '50s and '60s music, bringing together all known recordings by a top-drawer singer who never had quite the right break. Billy Brown was a rodeo performer, a hillbilly singer, a rockabilly, an unrivalled balladeer, a country gospel evangelist, and a mainstay of the central Florida music scene. He spent most of his life in the music business, usually just under the radar. He wrote many songs, recorded for the right labels, but never quite made it in his lifetime. For all that, he left a lot of music to enjoy. And the original version of 'He'll Have To Go', as good in its way as Jim Reeves' recording!

<img src='http://www.bear-family.fr/out/pictures/icon/bcd17285_ico.jpg' border=0 align='left' hspace=5>1-CD DigiPac (4-plated) with c. 80-page booklet, 33 tracks. Playing time approx. 88 mns. -- Doo-Wop is one of the foundation stones of rock 'n' roll. Bear Family will issue the defintive story of Doo-Wop from 1939-1963! The next five volumes covering 1954-1958 are out now! Every Doo-Wop hit! Every neglected classic! Every ground-breaking record! Detailed song-by-song notes and amazing rare photos from the golden era! -- Like Rap, Doo Wop music was an urban American art-form. It was sung on street-corners, in stairwells of tenement apartments, in high school toilets ... and it was preserved for posterity in recording studios. Most of the performers were African American, and many of the songs were romantic - in sharp contrast to the bleak reality of urban African American life at the time. Doo-wop had its origins in the black pop and gospel groups of the pre-World War II era, but it flourished in the years after World War II and became a major contributing force to the evolution of rock 'n' roll. In fact, some eminent cultural historians cite records like 'Sixty Minute Man' and 'Gee' as among the first rock 'n' roll records. Both of those classics, along with many more, are on Bear Family's defintive history of Doo-Wop, 'Street Corner Symphonies.' As always, you can trust Bear Family to get it right. -- Starting in 1939 with pre-Doo-Wop acts like the Golden Gate Quartet, the Ink Spots, and the Mills Brothers, 'Street Corner Symphonies' will take the story until the end of the Doo-Wop era in 1963. The first five volumes cover the years 1939 to 1953: in other words, Doo-Wop's true golden era. There are simply too many hits to list. Just look at the track listing! Suffice to say that these were the records that provided the soundtrack to the rock 'n' roll revolution ... and the records that changed American and global popular music forever. -- This series has been compiled and annotated by R&B music's foremost scholar, Chicago's Bill Dahl, and every song comes with detailed notes and illustrations. There have been plenty of Doo-Wop compilations, even a few Doo-Wop boxed sets, but this series is the last word on the genre. Truly definitive! Every hit, every underground classic, every song that lit up the airwaves at the dawn of rock 'n' roll. Every shoop, every doop, every doo-doo-wah!

Playing time approx. 65 mns. -- Today he's a high profile evangelist, but in 1955 he was a young country singer with an astonishing range. Dave Rich was one of the great, undiscovered talents in country music when rock 'n' roll erupted. He could have made it as a rock 'n' roller too. The songs were great, and Dave Rich could rock as convincingly as he could sing country. Here are all 28 RCA recordings from 1955 to 1959 including 'Rosie Let's Get Cozy', 'School Blues', and 'Burn On Love Fire'. The highlights, though, are 'City Lights', recorded several months before Ray Price's version, and 'Lonely Street', recorded years before Andy Williams' hit version, and perhaps the most powerful version ever. Check out that voice!
