Aus seiner Bluesband ist eine kompakte Einheit geworden. Der Retro-Ansatz ist in den Hintergrund gerückt zugunsten eines eigenständigen Sounds, der zwar auf den satten R&B-Arrangements eines Dave Bartholomew oder Guitar Slim gründet, jedoch nicht rückwärts gewandt klingt. JW als Gitarrist ist gereift. Sein Ton ist fett, sein Spiel kraftvoll. Als Sänger hat er enorm gewonnen, klingt natürlicher als bisher (Dank der Tipps von Kim Wilson). Und Wilson selbst hat eine Menge zu diesem Album beigetragen. Es sind seine Ideen, seine Arrangements, 60s Soul und gar ein bisschen Garage-Rock die das besondere Etwas ausmachen. Mit diesem Album etabliert sich JW in der ersten Garde junger nordamerikanischer Bluesleute!

Third release from the talented young Canadian bluesman. He has matured to become a bandleader with a musical vision, a clear concept. His band has developed into a compact unit. What used to be 'retro', the re-production of sound and style of a past era, now is contemporary, unique. Based on classical r&b arrangements by the likes of Dave Bartholomew his music has grown into a style of it's own, incorporating some 1960s soul, or even garage rock. Kim Wilson producing helped a lot. He's got the knowledge, the experience and the personality to help shape a band like JW's. As a guitarist, he's better than ever playing with a fat, powerful tone. His vocals are much better, too, sounding natural. I know with this album JW will establish himself amongst the first league of young bluesplayers in Northern America!.
