'Let’s Go' war das letzte Album der Band für United Artists / Liberty und wurde 1983 veröffentlicht, bevor sie zu Warner Music wechselten. Das Album kam in die Country Charts, die Singles 'Shot Full Of Love' und 'Dance Little Jean' wurden zu Country Hits.

'Acoustic' markiert die Rückkehr der Band zu Liberty Records und ist ein Album voll Originalmaterial, ganz im Stile ihrer anfänglichen Wurzeln.

Gegründet 1965 in Long Beach. Die 5-Mann-Truppe, die unter anderem mit Fiedel, Waschbrett, Mandoline, Sägen und Glasflaschen aller Art musiziert, will bewußt Musik zum Wohlfühlen für fröhliche Hörer machen. Die Gruppe, die sich einen eigenen Stil aus Folklore, Blues, Jug-Band-Music, Skiffle und Bluegrass zusammengemixt hat, erinnert leicht an den legendären Nonsens Spike Jones'. Weil sie sich stilistisch nicht festlegen laslen will, wurde die Gruppe bisher in keinem Musikgenre wirklich populär. Der erfolgreichste Film, in dem die Nitty Gritty Dirt Band bislang zu hören war, war das Musical „Paint Your Wagon'.
