Mr. Bear’s real name is Teddy McRae and these
sessions came soon alter the duet he recorded with Champion Jack Dupree for

Daybreak Rock. How Come
offers a change of tempo; we hope to release
more of this artist later.Which leaves Big John Greer who, despite having recorded
many sessions for RCA, has failed to leave any other trace. Certainly his approach
was catholic, embracing schlocky ballads through to the booting sides like
Bottle
It Up And Go
and
Come Back Maybelline
, the latter to be featured on a forthcoming
album.
But what of the stars, Mickey and Sylvia? Mickey quit the USA in 1962 and
has lived in France ever since, recording prolifically, whilst Sylvia had another hit
with
Pillow Talk
in 1975 and headed All Platinum Records with her husband, Joe
and currently Sugarhill, the New York funk/disco set-up. Success indeed!
