OBITUARY:
Singer and actor Lesley Gore died February 16 way too early at the age of 68 years from cancer. She was famous for hits like ‚It’s My Party‘ which reached No.1 in the Billboard Hot 100, ‚Judy’s Turn To Cry‘ which climbed up to No.5 in the Billboard Charts and many many more! In total she had 19 Top 100 hits between 1963 and 1967! She also was successful as a songwriter and wrote hits like ‚Out Here On My Own‘ for Irene Cara who reached No.19 in the Billboard Charts as well! Besides the singing and songwriting she also worked as an actor and took part in movies like ‚Girls On The Beach (1967)‘ and played the role of ‚Pussycat‘ in two ‚Batman‘ episodes! Bear Family Records put out all Mercury recordings by Lesley Gore in a wonderful 5-CD set including biographical and discographical data and every song she’d recorded between 1963 and 1969.

Die Sängerin und Schauspielerin Lesley Gore verstarb am 16ten Februar 2015 in Manhattan N.Y. nach schwerer Krankheit. Lesley Gore ist vorallendingen für ihren musikalischen Hit ‚It’s My Party‘ bekannt geworden, der 1963 auf Platz 1 der Billboard Hot 100 Charts geklettert ist. Ihr Nachfolgehit ‚Judy’s Turn To Cry‘ erreichte Platz 5 der Billboard Hot 100 und insgesamt hatte sie 19 Hitplatzierungen zwischen 1963 und 1967 in den Top 100 Billboard Charts. Lesley Gore war auch eine erfolgreicher Songschreiberin und schrieb Hits wie z.B. ‚Out Here On My Own‘ für Irene Clara, die damit in die Top 20 kam! Neben ihrer musikalischen Karriere trat Lesley Gore auch in dem Film ‚Girls On The Beach‘ aus dem Jahre 1967 auf und spielte in zwei ‚Batman‘ Episoden die Rolle der ‚Pussycat‘ an der Seite von Adam West. Bear Family Records veröffentlichte Lesley Gore’s komplette Mercury Aufnahmen, die sie zwischen 1963 und 1969 machte,  auf einer 5-CD Box, inkl. ausführlicher Biografie und Diskografie.
