Nach Woody Guthries Tod am 3. Oktober 1967
wurden zwei “Tribute To Woody Guthrie”-Konzerte in den USA geplant, eins am 20. Januar 1968 in der New Yorker Carnegie Hall und ein zweites am 12. September 1970 in der Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
• Im Rahmen des Januar-Konzerts traten Judy Collins, Bob Dylan mit Mitgliedern von The Band, Jack Elliott, Arlo Guthrie, Richie Havens, Odetta, Tom Paxton und Pete Seeger auf.
• In Los Angeles kamen Joan Baez, Jack Elliott, Arlo Guthrie, Odetta, Country Joe McDonald, Richie Havens, Earl Robinson und Pete Seeger auf die Bühne. Die Begleitband bestand aus Mitgliedern von Swampwater und Ry Cooder.
• Erstmals 1972 als Doppel-LP veröffentlicht.
Die fabelhafte 2017er Edition auf Bear Family enthält darüberhinaus:
• 20 nie zuvor veröffentlichte Aufnahmen von dem Konzert in der Hollywood Bowl!
