Wer war/ist Harry Hillard ? - CDs, Vinyl LPs, DVD und mehr
Harry Hillard
Harry R. Hillard (1911-1949) made ten sides at Gennett's studios in Richmond, Indiana, in 1931-32, of which the five that were issued were all Rodgers covers. He was no doubt introduced to the company by his older brother Jess Hillard (see CD 2, track 25). His obituary stated that he " was a resident in Richmond all his life and was known in musical circles here." (Tony Russell)
Hillard's recording of Rodgers' Blue Yodel No. 9, like his I'm Looking For A Brand New Mama (CD 1, track 25), is distinguished by the Hawaiian accompaniment of a group called the Hoosier Hawaiians, which included twin steel guitars played by A. J. McNew and Lloyd Wright, neither of whom was Hawaiian.
