The Peacemakers
Vietnam Foreign Correspondent
(Timothy M. Otto)
The Peacemakers
Almost Paradise APM 2004
The Peacemakers Band, a quartet from Portland, Oregon, features singer/songwriter Tim Otto on lead vocals and guitar, Chris Charles on bass, Tony Floreno on lead guitar and Brad 'The Beat' Pharis on drums. In 2004, Otto and his friends decided to record an album focusing on, and with the sound and feel of the '60s. Reviewer Chas Pike wrote that 'Goodbye Free Love' "gives voice to a generation born into the turbulent sixties, coming of age in the morally dissipating seventies, [and] finally crashing and burning head on into 1980."
The album has 17 tracks, most written by Otto. Bring Back The 60s Tonight is his ode to a hippie flower girl. Where's The Sniper Now harks back to November 22, 1963 when President Kennedy was assassinated. Two of the album's cuts relate directly to the war. Vietnam Foreign Correspondent tells of a photojournalist who caught the 'living hell' of war through his camera lens and tried to save lives with his Leica, not an M-16. One Way Ticket To Amsterdam is the story of a disillusioned Vietnam vet who chooses Holland's hash houses over returning to a country "that he no longer recognizes and fails to recognize him."
In 2009 the band finally released a 2nd album, 'Hello Free World.'
