Die Soul-Musikszene sprühte Anfang der 1970er Jahre vor Energie. In Detroit war Berry Gordys Motown der „Sound of Young America” und Philadelphia folgte mit „The Sound of Philadelphia”. Zweifellos eine der besten lokalen Gesangsgruppen dieser Zeit, die den später als „Philly Soul“ bekannten Stil prägte, waren die Philly Devotions. Obwohl sie den bekannteren Gruppen, die mit diesem süßen Sound in Verbindung gebracht wurden, in nichts nachstanden, wurden die Singles der Devotions von den kommerziellen Radiosendern weitgehend ignoriert. Die Frustration wurde zu groß und leider löste sich die Gruppe schließlich auf. Hier wird zum ersten Mal eine vollständige Sammlung der Aufnahmen der Philly Devotions präsentiert, die alle Elemente enthält, die den frühen Philly-Sound ausmachten, remastered und auf limitierter farbiger Vinylplatte für Ihren Hörgenuss gepresst.
