"Golden Gate Groove: The Sound Of Philadelphia - Live in San Francisco 1973" fängt das erste und einzige Mal ein, dass die Stars von Philadelphia International Records (P.I.R.) - darunter The O'Jays, Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, The Three Degrees und Billy Paul - in einem Konzert mit der Hausband des Labels, MFSB (Mother, Father, Sister, Brother), auftraten. Das Konzert, das den Sound of Philadelphia - liebevoll T.S.O.P. genannt - vorstellte, fand in San Francisco während der jährlichen CBS Records Convention im Fairmont Hotel im September 1973 statt.
