Marion Wade
Born in Bonn, Germany, Marion started to play the piano when she was six years old. She was taught by her father, a music teacher, who also used to play the organ at the local church. In her early twenties she met British harmonica player Roger C. Wade and became hooked on the blues after listening to a record by the legendary Otis Spann.
After exploring the blues scene in the US for a few months, Marion and Roger married in 1995 and founded the band “Little Roger and the Houserockers”, well-known for their mix of first- class 50s Chicago blues, boogie and swinging jump blues. The explosive stage show and their deep love of the blues have made “Little Roger & The Houserockers” one of the top attractions at many a gig in clubs and at festivals alike. Marion also plays piano in the Bonn-based R&B band “A.G. and the Motelkings”, as well as in a trio with Roger and the Spanish guitarist Balta Bordoy, which resulted in the old-school album “The Schoolhouse Sessions”.
Marion is one of the few European blues pianists that echo the great Otis Spann from Chicago and the legendary Fred Kaplan from Los Angeles, who personally taught her the West Coast piano style at his house in California.
