Unsere 1957er Ausgabe enthält Hueys unbändigen Durchbruch mit Rockin' Pneumonia And The Boogie Woogie Flu. 1959 sprach der Besitzer von Ace Records, Johnny Vincent, mit dem Billboard Magazin und erinnerte sich daran, als Smith Ace verließ, dass Ace "von meinem Haus und aus meiner Tasche agierte. Wir ließen unsere Platten von Plastic Products in Memphis pressen. Sie hatten einen Truck, der mit Schallplatten unterwegs war, also ging ich nach Memphis und fuhr mit diesem Truck zur MOA (Music Operators of America) Convention in Chicago.
Wir haben die Schallplatte da oben rausgeholt. Und so kamen wir mit Don't You Just Know It. Wir dachten, dass nach einem großen Treffer der zweite ein natürliches Ereignis sein würde, aber plötzlich saßen wir mit 80.000 Pressungen in Memphis und ich dachte, ich müsste sie aufessen. Schließlich erhielt Dick Clark die Platte und begann sie zu spielen. Das war es dann, er hat es für uns geschafft." Als Don't You Just Know It in den frühen Wochen des Jahres 1958 zum Hit wurde, wurden Vincent von den vampirischen Quasi-Major-Labels ABC-Paramount und Mercury bis zu 25.000 Dollar für die Masters angeboten. Laut Vincent verkaufte es bis März bis zu 75.000 Exemplare pro Woche.
"Ich muss keine Masters verkaufen, um Geld zu verdienen", sagte Vincent zu diesem Zeitpunkt. "Ich mache gutes Geld mit Plattenverkauf. Ich habe gerade aufgehört, Angebote anzunehmen." Der Leadsänger dieser Platte, wie auch bei Rockin' Pneumonia, war Bobby Marchan, ein Crossdresser, der Vincent zunächst getäuscht hatte, so dass er glaubte, er sei eine Frau. Die eigentliche Sängerin ist Gerri Hall, die jahrelang mit Smith und den Clowns zusammenarbeiten sollte. Jahre später erzählte Gerri Hall John Broven, dass der Busfahrer der Clowns, Rudy Ray Moore, immer sagte: “Don’t you know it, honey, don’t you just know it”, und dass die Clowns den Rest der Texte auf ihrer Reise zwischen Baltimore und Washington, DC, geschrieben haben. Zufällig oder nicht, Screamin' Jay Hawkins behauptete, dass Smith Don't You Just Know It gestohlen hat , nachdem er sah, wie Hawkins den Song in Baltimore live gebracht hatte.
Nachdem Smith einige Zeit auf Tournee verbracht hatte, erkannte er bald, dass die Leute annahmen, dass der Leadsänger Huey Smith war, also heuerte er James Booker an, um Klavier zu spielen und Marchan, um die Roadband zu leiten, während er in New Orleans blieb.
