Dub Dickerson machte sich einen Namen als Autor von Lefty Frizzells Country-Hit: Look What Thoughts Will Do und Co-Autor von Ricky Nelsons Rock 'n' Roll Klassiker Stood Up. Auch die Rockabilly-Freunde kennen ihn durch seine Früh-Rock Aufnahmen wie My Gal Gertie und die Stücke, die er für Dennis Herrold schrieb: Hip, Hip Baby und Make With The Lovin. Als ein rundum vielseitiger Musiker und Autor nahm Dub Dickerson während seiner Karriere fast alles auf: Western Songs, Honky Tonk, Hillbilly Boogie, Rock 'n' Roll, Country Pop.

Bear Family präsentiert hier die Früchte der frühen Arbeit von Dub Dickerson, inklusive seines 1950er Debuts bei Imperial, bis hin zu seinen Aufnahmen für Sims, wobei in dieser Werkschau nur das letzte, 1962 für Sims entstandene Album fehlt.

Es finden sich so exzellente Titel wie My Gal Gertie, Mama Laid The Law Down, Must've Drove My Mules Too Hard, Shotgun Wedding und einige bislang unveröffentlichte Aufnahmen von Dub Dickerson. Zusätzlich findet sich noch ein wunderbar rockendes Demo von 1957 auf diesem CD Album, 'Boppin' In The Dark'.
