Diese phantastisch-eigenwillige Zusammenstellung aus der Steinzeit zum Thema Dinosaurier und Höhlenmenschen bringt Bear Family Records® direkt zu eurer Halloween Party!
32 Aufnahmen aus den 1950er und 60er Jahren, sowie Artverwandtes aus späteren Jahren.
Mit dabei u.a. Big Art Peters und seine Version von Prehistoric Plateau neben dem 1985er Rockabilly-Original dieses Songs von The Blubbery Hellbellies, dazu Rocker wie Link Wray, Buddy Merrill, Tommy Roe, The Piltdown Men, Tommy Steele und die Royal Teens.
Ähnlich selten wie Artefakte aus der Jurazeit sind einige erstmals auf CD erscheinende Aufnahmen wie Dinosaur Cavern von Terry Wayne oder The Cave von Gary 'Spider' Webb.
Dazu gibt es thematische Radio Film-Trailer und Titelmusiken historischer Fernseh-Serien.
Das farbige 20-seitige Booklet enthält seltene Fotos und Erinnerungsstücke und detaillierte Info zu jedem einzelnen Song.

Steinzeitalter

Stone Age und Dinosaurier sind nicht nur klassische Themen älterer B-Movies. Das belegt vor allem die Filmserie 'Jurassic Park'. Auch die Musikbranche widmete sich dem Thema - und wir haben dazu die besten Beispiele zusammengestellt, primär aus der Rock 'n' Roll-Ära, aber auch aus späteren Jahren im passenden Stil.

Prehistoric Plateau

Die CD beginnt und endet mit je einer Version des Songs Prehistoric Plateau. Was beide Versionen gemeinsam haben? Der englische Komponist Arthur Billingsley ist als Musiker an beiden Aufnahmen beteiligt. Er war Mitglied der kultigen 1980er-Jahre Band The Blubbery Hellbellies, die das Original im Rockabilly Stil aufnahm. 2010 coverte er sich als Big Art Peters selbst. Beide Tracks sind Highlights dieser Zusammenstellung. Hinzu kommen eine Menge weniger bekannter Künstler der 1950er und '60er Jahre wie The Pre-Historics, Terry Wayne oder The Majestics, deren Songs hier zumeist erstmals auf CD erscheinen. Seltene Aufnahmen wie der 1966er Filmtrailer 'One Million Years BC', die 'Flintstones'-Titelmelodie und das 1977er TV-Highlight 'Captain Caveman And The Teen Angels' runden das Programm ab. Die CD kommt mit einem 20-seitigen farbige Büchlein und vielen seltenen Fotos und nostalgischen Erinnerungsstücken, plus Song-by-Song Notes des Produzenten.

A theme I haven't seen before, dinosaurs and cavemen!

A theme I haven't seen before, dinosaurs and cavemen, because although there are more than 60 million years between the two phenomena, popular culture tends to portray them as contemporary. Laced with some trailers for B-movies and TV-series about this in the 50's so cherished subject we are offered a number of nice tracks where no less than 5 bear the name "Caveman" and another 7 with the word "Caveman" in the title. Most notable are the Hollywood Argyles with "Alley Oop", Tommy Roe (he with Sheila) singing "Caveman" with the group Satins and John Zacherle "I Was A Teen-Age Caveman" and Tommy Steele's "Rock With The Caveman. Little-known Nero and the Gladiators give us Grieg's "In The Hall Of The Mountain King" which was their second single for Decca after "Entry Of The Gladiators". More obscure albums include Tommy Mercer with the swinging "Volcano Rock", Randy Luck who gave us the original "I Was A Teen-Age Caveman" and Space Man With The Rockets. A little sloppy in the lyrics, Nero and the Gladiators did all their singles for Decca, the single on HMV with the Gladiators (without Nero in the name) came later and I'm not entirely convinced it's the same group. What have they messed up on artists I know nothing about? But don't let this whining put you off, have a listen and dream yourself back to times gone by! And Link Wray is there.

Eine außergewöhnliche und höchst originelle Zusammenstellung!

Kurzweiliger kann man sich wohl kaum der Steinzeit (auch der des Pop-Geschäfts) nähern. Ein wunderbar recherchiertes und reich illustriertes Booklet bringt die Fakten zu Destination Jurassic Land auf den Tisch. Nicht nur Paläontologen empfohlen!
