Bear Family veröffentlicht erstmals Aufnahmen der Plattenfirmen Blue Moon und Bella Records aus Santa Clara bzw. San José in Kalifornien als Vinyl-LP!
John Pusateri aus Louisiana zog in den 1920er Jahren an die Westküste und gründete zunächst Bella Records in San José und 1957 Blue Moon Records in Santa Clara.
Für dieses Projekt haben wir die rockigsten Aufnahmen von Johnny Amelio, Chuck Royal, Joe Gradie und anderen Rockern ausgesucht.
Das Booklet liefert ausführliche Linernotes, detaillierte diskographische Informationen, seltene Fotos und eine ausführliche Geschichte der Labels Blue Moon und Bella.
Sorgfältig restaurierte und neu gemasterte Aufnahmen.

Erzählt wird eine jener Geschichten, von denen Plattensammler träumen! Für die Firmen Bella und Blue Moon nahmen neben bekannteren Musikern wie Johnny Amelio, den Savoys und Gradie O'Neal ursprünglich weniger erfolgreiche Kollegen wie Buddy Bennett, Chuck Royal, Joe Jaros und die Empala Six auf, die seinerzeit allesamt großartige Songs produziert haben.

Da die meisten der Original-Masterbänder für immer verloren sind, wurde die Mehrzahl der Master von seltenen und schwer zu findenden Original Single-Veröffentlichungen (45er) überspielt, sorgfältig restauriert und neu gemastert, um dem Qualitätsstandard von Bear Family möglichst zu entsprechen.

Rare sounds from the South Bay scene

Rare sounds from the South Bay scene – completely rare singles from two tiny labels both owned by the same guy – Blue Moon and Bella Records, each of which issued only a handful of records apiece! Yet despite that fact, there's a rock-solid quality here that maybe matches some of the best indies of the Tennessee and Louisiana scenes of the time – served up with a similar ear for twang-heavy groups that maybe still have a bit of the hillbilly left in their sound, somewhere in the background – but who are definitely rockers right up front! The package is great – a very cool 45rpm 10" piece of vinyl – and a big booklet of notes and photos about the artists and the label – with titles that include "Bon Bom Baby" by Joe Jaros, "Bom Du Wa" by Toby & Ray, "The Mortal Monster Man" by The Savoys, "You're Like A Butterfly" by Chuck Royal & The Sharpsters, "Jugue" by The Downbeats, "Gonna Be Loved" by Linda & The Epics, "Turkey Neck Stretch" by Gradie O'Neal & The Bella Tones, "I've Got A Baby" by Clyde Arnold & The Sharps, and "Jo Ann Jo Ann" by Johnny Amelio
